People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love. - Nelson Mandela
This collection is a message from me (us), to my own (everyone). This is a message to offer a second thought about your preconceived notions, perceptions and stereotypes towards differences, no matter what: other nation, culture, religion, race, etc. It is a calling for LOVE, KINDNESS AND COMPASSION TOWARDS THE DIFFERENT ONES.
Accepting your own vulnerability is the first and the foremost step for love and belonging. Accepting the difference, which can be my(our) own vulnerability as an immigrant in Switzerland, was the first step to start this collection. The second step was to discover the power of fashion as a method of silent protest, as a soft way to present the manifesto.
I have chosen 2 strongly-coded stereotypes (bridal wear and business wear) to juxtapose with each other, ultimately to provoke the stereotypes itself.
31-year-old Romanian photographer Mihaela Noroc takes a picture of beauties around the world and she says in her interview: “Beauty is everywhere, authenticity and honesty make you realize we are all the same as humans, and this is what makes the world a better place”.
I have come to the strong point of view that fashion has an effect on our mindset and slowly changes the atmosphere of the local community, in the end, (hopefully) affecting the whole world.
