The use of animals in research fosters a diverse range of attitudes, with some people expressing desire for complete abolition of animal research practices, while others express strong support. These differing viewpoints reflect the complex relationship between humans and animals in laboratory research, situated at the intersection of scientific progress, ethical responsibility, and emotional engagement.
While laboratory animals may experience pain, stress, or restrictions associated with research procedures, the humans who care for and work with these animals are also confronted with ethical dilemmas and emotional challenges.
The objective of this campaign is to encourage viewers to move beyond binary or two-sided debates surrounding animal research and instead reflect on the complex relationships that exist within laboratory environments. By shifting between the experiences of the animal, the human–animal interaction, and the human, the campaign seeks to foster a more nuanced understanding of a highly polarized and emotionally charged topic.
Rather than providing answers, the moving-image posters invite audiences to consider broader ethical questions concerning care, responsibility, vulnerability, and the moral status of humans and non-human animals. Ultimately, the campaign aims to encourage dialogue and enable viewers to form their own informed perspectives on a topic that is often shaped by emotion, assumptions, and polarized public discourse.
