This Master’s thesis is a project that aims at exploring the act of looking. It explores the formal factors that constitute photorealism as well as the conditions required for it to occur. Through theoretical research and practical visual exploration, specific factors and conditions were discovered, culminating in a light-based installation.
The installation aims at creating an experience that allows any viewer to observe, dissect and analyse the different layers of visual information contained in digital, photoreal image material. This project uses visual disruption in order to create a sense of visual curiosity.
