This Master’s thesis examines the urgency of narrative spaces in an increasingly complex digital society and explores how their core elements overlap with those of play. Through literature, interviews with practitioners, and historical analysis, it argues that narrative spaces create immersive, sensory environments that foster perspective shifts, reflection, and temporary detachment from digital life.
These playful experiences offer tools for navigating contemporary complexity while counteracting digital desensitization. Building on this research, the practical project, etwas ist geblieben – Fabers Kammer, translates Fahrenheit 451 into an immersive installation where visitors reconstruct a narrative through multisensory exploration, engaging with themes of memory, censorship, and digitalization.
