The Evening Star explores new approaches to staging Romanian opera through participatory scenography. Inspired by Mihai Eminescu’s poem and Nicolae Bretan’s opera, the project reinterprets a work from the Romanian cultural archive in a contemporary, immersive format that transforms audiences from spectators into active co-creators.

The installation evokes a starry universe, while live painting and color-based participation allow visitors to influence the performance during the opera’s prologue. By combining tradition with innovation, the project seeks to engage younger audiences, preserve Romanian cultural heritage, and demonstrate how participatory methods can renew interest in opera and classical music.
