Friendship Makes Worlds

Studium: MA Transversal Design
Jahr: 2026

This speculative multispecies Master’s thesis explores friendship as a form of relationality and as a site of shared transformation across human and more-than-human worlds. It is situated within a world of complex relationships and examines friendship as a practice of maintaining agency.

Mud-Creatures become a metaphor for the malleable, individual understanding of friendship, shaped by personal, cultural and socio-systemic experiences.

Through images, collages and personal stories, the thesis researches how friendship can change individuals, societies and environments. Continually inviting the reader to ask: „Can we be friends?“

Pigeons are omnipresent as companions and methodological friends. A relationship that reflects how being-in-relation can transform perception, behaviour and reality. It suggests the honouring of friendship as a meaningful practice of change, grounded in responsibility and respect for the other.
