This Bachelor’s thesis investigates how movement can be communicated through pure static graphic design without animation, sound, color, or context.

The theoretical part analyzes visual mechanisms of dynamism in logotypes, resulting in an original taxonomy of five movement types. The practical part takes real video footage and strips it of everything but movement – removing color, sound, background, and narrative, then translates the remaining motion into single static images using a fixed visual system of four aspects: speed, object movement, direction, and camera behavior.

The visual language has its own clear rules, but because of the abstract nature of the concept, the application is subjective.

The final result is a printed book of 16 graphics, each interpreting a different footage.
