As material beings living in a material world we surround ourselves with countless objects and possessions. In this exploration of the human-objects relationship, I adopt multiple methods to understand attachment and communicate stages of our interactions with objects.

From picking apart my personal collections, to prompting visualisations and conversations with regards to people and their possessions, I compare the personal and impersonal ways in which objects pass through our lives. What began as an inquiry into the role memory plays on our feelings towards inanimate belongings soon became an exploration into areas of archiving, collecting behaviour and personality.

My visual experimentation and theoretical research drew inspiration from important artists ranging from Joseph Cornell and Gabriel Orozco to Taryn Simon, Mark Dion and Micheal Landy. Their works and words opened my mind to understanding more deeply the vastness and capacity of our object–human relationship.
